Can albuterol be refilled through telehealth?
Selected established inhaler refill requests may be appropriate for telehealth. The clinician will consider how often you are using albuterol, whether symptoms are changing, and whether your asthma may be inadequately controlled.
What information may be needed?
- Current inhaler and dose
- How often you use it
- Nighttime symptoms or exercise limitation
- Other controller inhalers
- Recent urgent care, ER visits, or steroid treatment
When is this not a routine refill?
Severe shortness of breath, difficulty speaking, bluish lips, low oxygen levels, chest pain, or an inhaler that is not relieving symptoms requires urgent evaluation.
