Running low on your antidepressant? Don't stop suddenly

Stopping many antidepressants abruptly, especially paroxetine and venlafaxine, can cause discontinuation symptoms such as dizziness, irritability, trouble sleeping, flu-like feelings or brief "brain zaps." Request your refill a week or more before you run out. If you've already missed doses, tell the clinician when you complete your questionnaire.

How online medication refills work

  1. Take the free self-check on this page, then text START to 469-951-0477.
  2. Complete a secure health questionnaire from the link we text you, about your medicine, how you're doing, side effects and other medicines, plus a photo of your current pharmacy label.
  3. A licensed clinician reviews it, by secure message or a short video visit.
  4. If appropriate, your prescription is sent to your local Texas pharmacy, such as CVS, Walgreens, H-E-B, Walmart or Kroger.

Anxiety and depression refill questions

Can I refill my antidepressant online in Texas?

Yes, if you are in Texas, already have a current prescription for a non-controlled antidepressant or anxiety medicine, are doing well on it and want the same medicine and dose. A clinician reviews your answers and sends a prescription to your pharmacy only if it is safe and appropriate.

Do you prescribe Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan or other benzodiazepines?

No. We do not prescribe or refill Xanax (alprazolam), Klonopin (clonazepam), Ativan (lorazepam), Valium (diazepam) or any other controlled substance, including Adderall, Ambien or other sleep and stimulant medicines. Please continue those with the doctor who prescribes them.

Which anxiety and depression medicines do you refill?

Common non-controlled medicines such as sertraline (Zoloft), escitalopram (Lexapro), citalopram (Celexa), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), venlafaxine (Effexor XR), desvenlafaxine (Pristiq), duloxetine (Cymbalta), bupropion (Wellbutrin), mirtazapine (Remeron), buspirone, trazodone and hydroxyzine, at the dose you already take.

Can you start a new antidepressant or change my dose?

Not at this time. We only continue a current prescription at the same dose. For new treatment, a dose change or switching medicines, please see your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist.

What happens if I run out of my antidepressant?

Stopping some antidepressants suddenly can cause discontinuation symptoms such as dizziness, irritability, flu-like feelings or brief electric-shock sensations. Do not stop on your own; request a refill early or contact your prescriber or pharmacist.

Will I need a video visit?

Sometimes. Depending on your answers, your clinician may complete your care by secure message or a short video visit.

Am I guaranteed a prescription?

No. You pay for a medical evaluation. A clinician decides whether treatment is safe and appropriate for you.

Which states do you serve?

Available in Texas, Oklahoma and Florida. Your physical location is confirmed at care.

What if I'm having thoughts of hurting myself?

Please call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day, or call 911 if you are in immediate danger. Online medication refills are not the right service during a crisis.

Is my information private?

The self-check on this page runs only in your browser and nothing is saved. You only text us the word START; we then send a secure link, and your health questionnaire is collected through a HIPAA-compliant intake system.
