Can a PPI be refilled through telehealth?
For an established patient whose symptoms are controlled, a PPI may be appropriate for telehealth refill evaluation. The clinician may also review whether your current dose is still the right one.
What information may be needed?
- Which PPI you take, the dose, and how often
- How long you have been taking it and why it was started
- How well your symptoms are controlled
- Other medications, including blood thinners or anti-inflammatories
- Any alarm symptoms listed below
When is routine refill care not enough?
Trouble or pain with swallowing, vomiting blood, black or bloody stools, unexplained weight loss, or chest pain needs prompt medical evaluation rather than a routine refill.
See acid reflux refill information or read the Texas Medication Refill Guide.
