Help getting connected

Call or text VISIT to 469-951-0477. During clinic hours we answer the phone and can guide you step by step. Texts outside clinic hours are answered later; please keep medical details out of ordinary text messages.

Medical forms

Completing a form during your visit is included in the $39 fee. We help with work notes, FMLA paperwork and DMV driving-clearance forms. Some forms need an exam, records from prior providers or hospitals, or lab tests first; with your permission we can request records, and outside labs are billed separately. Completion is not guaranteed. We do not complete immigration medical forms.

Specialist referrals and in-person care

We can refer you to a specialist when appropriate, including when your plan (such as some BCBSTX plans) requires a primary care referral. Whether your plan accepts the referral, and the specialist's availability and charges, are separate. We can also point you to in-person care when you need a hands-on exam.

What our virtual primary & urgent care can treat

Virtual care works best for problems a clinician can evaluate safely through your history, a video examination and clinical judgment. These are common reasons patients walk in virtually:

URI, cold, flu, COVID & sinus

Upper respiratory infection (URI), cough, congestion, sinus pressure, sore throat, flu-like or COVID-type symptoms, fever and selected bronchitis symptoms. Testing may be recommended before treatment.

Allergies, eyes & ears

Seasonal allergies, hives, pink eye and ear pain or pressure. Some ear and eye problems need an in-person look.

Urinary & women's health

Uncomplicated urinary tract infection symptoms, and yeast or bacterial vaginosis-type symptoms.

Sexual health & STI concerns

Private evaluation of symptoms or exposures, lab testing orders, results review and treatment when appropriate. Some infections are treated with an injection given in person. Possible HIV exposure within the past 72 hours needs urgent evaluation for PEP.

Skin

Rashes, eczema flares, fungal rashes, insect bites and minor skin infections, evaluated by video and, when helpful, photos.

Stomach & digestion

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and reflux or heartburn, including guidance on hydration and when to be seen in person.

Headache & migraine

Evaluation of familiar headache or migraine patterns. New, sudden or severe headaches need emergency care.

Strains, sprains & back pain

Minor muscle strains, sprains and back pain without red flags. Injuries that may need an X-ray or splint are directed to in-person care.

Notes, medications & follow-up

Work or school notes when medically appropriate, questions about your current medications, and follow-up or results review after a visit.

Chronic conditions & follow-up

High blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and thyroid follow-up: symptom and home-reading review, medication review and lab orders when appropriate.

Mental health & sleep

Continuation of established, non-controlled anxiety or depression medicines, and sleep counseling. No controlled substances. In a crisis, call or text 988, or call 911.

Preventive & women's health

Preventive counseling, results review, contraception counseling and selected menopause concerns, with testing or examination arranged when needed.

When virtual care isn't enough: some problems need testing, a hands-on examination, an injection, imaging, IV fluids, urgent care or emergency care. If so, your clinician will tell you the right next step and where to go, including in-person options in our clinical network or any facility you choose.

A prescription, antibiotic, test or note is never guaranteed. We do not prescribe controlled substances. Adults 18+ physically located in Texas, Oklahoma or Florida. Not offered: pediatric care, fertility treatment, intensive psychiatric services, comprehensive weight-loss programs, controlled-substance management or emergency treatment.

Virtual care, urgent care or the ER: how to choose

Choosing the right level of care saves time and money and keeps you safe. This general guide is not a substitute for medical advice.

Virtual urgent care

Best for common problems that can be judged by talking and a video exam: colds, flu-like illness, sinus and allergy symptoms, pink eye, uncomplicated urinary symptoms, rashes, stomach upset, minor strains, medication questions and work or school notes.

In-person urgent care

Best for problems that need hands-on care the same day: a possible broken bone, cuts that need stitches, rapid strep or flu testing on site, an injection, or a physical exam of the ears, chest or abdomen.

Emergency room or 911

Go now for chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs (face drooping, arm weakness, trouble speaking), severe bleeding, a severe allergic reaction, confusion, fainting, the worst headache of your life or a major injury.

How to get the most from a virtual visit

  • Be physically in Texas, Oklahoma or Florida, in a private place with good light and a steady connection.
  • Have your photo ID, your pharmacy's name and location, and a list of your current medicines and allergies.
  • If you can, check your temperature, and have a home blood pressure or pulse reading ready.
  • For a rash, eye or skin problem, be ready to show it on camera in good light.
  • If you have a home COVID or flu test, take it before your visit and have the result ready.

Answers to common urgent-care questions

Virtual care in three states. Texas in-person options when needed.

Americare starts care virtually across Texas, Oklahoma and Florida, but telehealth cannot replace every physical examination or procedure. Dr. Nicholas Atudonyang maintains clinical relationships with physicians, nurse practitioners, clinics, urgent care centers and emergency facilities where he may practice or where clinicians he works with can provide hands-on care. These are not all Americare-owned branches, and patients remain free to use any appropriate facility.

Frequently asked questions

My doctor is unreachable and my appointment is days away — what can I do?

Try your regular office’s covering clinician or after-hours line, and ask your pharmacy about available refill options. If you have no emergency warning signs, MedRefillCare can evaluate whether a limited bridge refill of an established, non-controlled medication is appropriate for an adult physically in Texas. Bring your medication label, dose and recent records. The self-pay review is $39; prescriptions are not guaranteed. Keep your scheduled follow-up. Do not wait for telehealth if symptoms are severe or rapidly worsening.

See when telehealth is not appropriate.

Do I need the ER, or can this be handled by telehealth?

Some routine medication concerns and mild symptoms can be evaluated by telehealth when there are no warning signs. A video visit cannot rule out every serious condition; testing or a hands-on examination may be needed. Call 911 or go to the ER for severe, rapidly worsening or potentially life-threatening symptoms. Do not wait in a virtual queue for emergency care.

See when telehealth is not appropriate.

Can telehealth help when my regular doctor is unavailable?

Sometimes. A licensed clinician can review your symptoms, medication history and monitoring needs and decide whether care can safely begin online. MedRefillCare handles eligible established medication refill evaluations; the Americare Virtual Walk-In Clinic handles appropriate new symptoms and follow-up during clinic hours. Neither replaces your regular clinician or specialist, and treatment is not guaranteed.

What can Americare virtual primary and urgent care treat?

Common non-emergency problems such as upper respiratory infection (URI), cold, flu, COVID-type and sinus symptoms, sore throat, allergies, pink eye, ear complaints, uncomplicated urinary symptoms, yeast or BV-type symptoms, STI and sexual-health concerns, rashes and minor skin infections, nausea, diarrhea and reflux, headache or migraine, minor strains and back pain, fever, work or school notes, medication questions and follow-up. Primary-care follow-up is also available, including blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and thyroid check-ins and medication review. Your clinician decides what can be treated safely by video.

Can you treat a UTI or STI online?

Often, yes. Uncomplicated urinary symptoms and many sexual-health concerns can be evaluated by video, with lab testing ordered when needed and treatment prescribed when appropriate. Some infections, such as gonorrhea and syphilis, are treated with an injection given in person.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

No. Americare does not prescribe controlled substances such as opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants or sleeping pills.

Is this the MedRefillCare refill service?

No. Americare Virtual Walk-In Clinic provides virtual primary and urgent care, including new symptoms and ongoing medication follow-up when appropriate. It has its own check-in, payment and visit workflow. MedRefillCare is a separate pathway for established medication refill evaluations.

Do I need an appointment time?

No traditional appointment slot is required during clinic hours: Monday–Friday 11:00 AM–7:00 PM and Saturday 12:00–4:00 PM Central Time (closed Sunday). Enter the virtual waiting room and patients are seen as clinicians become available. Wait time depends on clinician coverage and patient volume.

Can you guarantee a prescription?

No. You are paying for a medical evaluation. Prescriptions, antibiotics, testing, work notes, local-care planning, and other treatment are provided only when medically appropriate.

What if I need an in-person examination?

Your clinician will explain the appropriate next step and level of care based on your symptoms and location. In several Texas communities, you may be able to continue care at a practice or facility where Dr. A or clinicians he works with provide care; you may also choose another appropriate facility.

Is virtual urgent care legal in Texas?

Yes. Texas law allows licensed physicians and other licensed clinicians to evaluate and treat patients by telemedicine when the care meets the same standard as an in-person visit. Americare serves adults physically located in Texas, Oklahoma or Florida, with a clinician authorized for their location.

Can I get antibiotics for a sinus infection online?

Sometimes. Most sinus infections are caused by viruses and improve without antibiotics. A clinician may prescribe an antibiotic when symptoms last more than about 10 days, are severe, or get better and then worse again.

Can a virtual doctor diagnose strep throat?

Strep throat is confirmed with a throat swab test. A virtual clinician can assess your symptoms and, when strep is likely, direct you to a rapid test at a pharmacy, lab or urgent care before or alongside treatment.

Can a UTI be treated through telehealth?

Often, yes. Uncomplicated bladder infection symptoms in adults can usually be evaluated by video. Fever, back or side pain, vomiting, pregnancy or repeated infections may need testing or in-person care.

Can I get a doctor's note for work or school from a virtual visit?

Yes, when your clinician finds it medically appropriate after your visit. A note can confirm your visit date and recommended time off or activity limits; it cannot confirm past illness the clinician did not evaluate.

Can you help me get connected to my visit?

Yes. Call or text VISIT to 469-951-0477. During clinic hours we answer the phone and can walk you through joining the video visit step by step. Texts sent outside clinic hours are answered later. Please do not send medical details by ordinary text message.

Can you complete work notes, FMLA or DMV forms?

Often, yes, and completing a form as part of your visit is included in the $39 fee. We help with work notes, FMLA paperwork and DMV driving-clearance forms. Some forms need an appropriate examination, records from your prior providers or hospitals, or lab tests first; with your permission we can request those records, and outside labs are billed separately. Completion depends on clinical judgment and is not guaranteed. We do not complete immigration medical forms.

Can you refer me to a specialist?

Yes, when it is clinically appropriate. Some insurance plans, including some BCBSTX plans, require a referral from a primary care provider before you see a specialist; we can help with that referral. Whether your plan accepts it, and the specialist's availability, network status and charges, depend on your plan and the specialist.

Is Americare Telehealth a legitimate medical practice?

Yes. Americare Telehealth is the d/b/a of Family Medicine and Research Center, P.A., a Texas professional association based in Fairview, Texas. Care is led by Nicholas Atudonyang, MD, a board-certified physician licensed in Texas and Oklahoma and registered as an out-of-state telehealth physician in Florida. You can verify licensure yourself with the Texas Medical Board, the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, the Florida Department of Health license search, and the national NPI Registry.

What happens if my problem can't be treated online?

Your clinician will explain why and tell you the safest next step, such as an in-person exam, testing, urgent care or the emergency room, including options in our Texas in-person network or any facility you choose. The $39 fee is refunded if you cancel before your clinician begins your evaluation. Once the evaluation begins, the fee covers that medical evaluation and is generally not refunded, even if you need care elsewhere. See our refund policy.

How do I get results or ask questions after my visit?

We can send you an email invitation to connect with our practice through FollowMyHealth, the patient portal used with Practice Fusion. Once connected, you can access health information and results shared by our practice and use secure messaging where enabled. You can use a web browser or the FollowMyHealth app. Ask us if you need help getting connected.

For medication problems or questions about your care plan, message us through the portal or call 469-951-0477. New symptoms or concerns requiring another evaluation may need a separate paid visit; any fee will be explained beforehand. Portal messages are not monitored continuously. For emergencies, call 911.

How long does a virtual walk-in visit take?

Visit length varies by clinical need. Waiting time in the virtual waiting room depends on clinician coverage and patient volume.

Ready to walk in?

$39 self-pay clinical evaluation

No appointment needed. Payment or BCBSTX PPO verification is handled during registration.

Please do not send symptoms, diagnoses, medication lists, insurance images, or other private medical details by ordinary SMS. We will direct clinical information into a secure workflow.
