Prescribing & Pharmacy Policy

Last updated September 16, 2026
Purpose: This page explains Americare Telehealth's prescribing and pharmacy practices for the Texas medication refill evaluation service.

1. Clinical evaluation required

Americare Telehealth does not sell prescriptions. A prescription or refill is considered only after an appropriate clinical evaluation by a licensed clinician and only when medically appropriate and permitted by law.

2. No guaranteed prescription

Booking or paying for a visit does not guarantee that a prescription, refill, laboratory order, referral, or other treatment will be issued. Clinical decisions are based on professional judgment, available records, current symptoms, medication history, relevant monitoring, and applicable law.

3. Service scope

The refill-evaluation pathway is intended for selected established, non-controlled maintenance medications. Controlled substances, including opioids, benzodiazepines, ADHD stimulants, and testosterone, are not provided through this service. Additional exclusions are listed on the homepage.

4. Records, testing, and in-person care

Before prescribing, the clinician may require pharmacy or prescription-history verification, laboratory results, vital signs, other medical records, video assessment, testing, or an in-person evaluation. If the information needed for safe prescribing cannot be verified, the clinician may decline to prescribe and recommend appropriate follow-up.

5. Patient-selected pharmacy

Americare Telehealth is not a pharmacy and does not sell, dispense, ship, or deliver prescription drugs. When a prescription is medically appropriate, it is transmitted to the pharmacy selected by the patient. Medication price, availability, substitutions, prior authorization requirements, and dispensing decisions are controlled by the pharmacy and the patient's health plan.

6. Visit fee

The $79 self-pay fee is for the clinician's medical evaluation. It is not payment for medication and does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued. Eligible BCBSTX PPO plans may be billed when applicable; coverage and patient responsibility depend on the individual plan.

7. Texas service area

This telemedicine service is currently offered only to adults age 18 and older who are physically located in Texas at the time of the encounter.

8. Questions or clinician contact

Call 469-952-8052 for questions or to contact the practice regarding care. Detailed health information should be shared through the secure clinical workflow, not ordinary text or email. Email for administrative matters: info@americaretelehealth.us.
