Americare Telehealth / Refill guide
Medication Refill Help for International Travelers in Texas
Visiting Texas from another country and running low on an established maintenance medication? Americare provides physician-led bridge-refill evaluations for eligible adults physically located in Texas.
$39 self-pay applies to patients not using insurance for the visit. Prescriptions are never guaranteed.
Who this is for
Adults visiting Texas from another country who are running low on an established, non-controlled maintenance medication and need a temporary bridge-refill evaluation.
You must be physically located in Texas at the time of the telehealth encounter.
What to have ready
- Original medication bottle, box, blister pack, or clear photo of the label
- Medication's generic and brand name if known
- Exact strength, dose, and how often you take it
- Allergies and other medications
- Recent relevant laboratory results or home readings when available
- Your regular doctor's name/contact information or prior prescription/medical record if available
- English translation of the medication name or records when reasonably available
A foreign prescription is not automatically “refilled”
Americare's clinician performs an independent Texas clinical evaluation. The clinician decides whether enough information is available to prescribe safely and whether the requested medication is appropriate for this bridge-refill service.
A prescription may be declined, shortened, changed, or deferred pending records, laboratory testing, video, or in-person care.
Your pharmacy in Texas
If a prescription is medically appropriate, it can generally be transmitted electronically to the Texas pharmacy you choose. Americare does not sell, dispense, ship, or deliver medication and does not require a partner pharmacy.
Medication availability, formulation, and brand names can differ between countries and pharmacies.
Not appropriate for this pathway
