1. Who this service is for
Adults age 18 and older who are physically located in Texas at the time of the encounter. Americare Telehealth currently serves patients located in Texas only.
2. How the clinical encounter works
- Every refill evaluation is a scheduled clinical encounter with a Texas-licensed clinician listed on our Clinicians & Licensure page.
- Americare Telehealth does not issue prescriptions based on an online questionnaire, form, text message, or email alone.
- Patients confirm their physical location in Texas and may be asked to verify identity.
- Audio or video may be used when clinically and legally appropriate. The clinician may require video, additional records or testing, or an in-person evaluation when necessary for safe care or to satisfy applicable requirements.
3. Scope of the refill-evaluation service
The service is intended for selected established, stable, non-controlled maintenance medications when telehealth review is appropriate. Controlled substances are not provided through this refill-evaluation pathway. New, worsening, urgent, or complex conditions may require a different type of visit, testing, referral, or in-person care.
4. Prescribing standards
- A prescription is issued only for a legitimate medical purpose after an appropriate clinical evaluation and when the clinician determines it is medically appropriate.
- Booking or paying for a visit never guarantees a prescription or refill.
- The clinician may decline a refill, limit the supply, or require current vital signs, laboratory testing, medication history, pharmacy verification, medical records, video assessment, or in-person evaluation before prescribing.
- If the information needed for safe prescribing cannot be verified, the clinician may recommend follow-up with a primary care clinician, specialist, urgent care, or another appropriate setting.
5. Pharmacy choice
Americare Telehealth does not own or operate a pharmacy and does not sell, dispense, compound, ship, or deliver medications. Prescriptions, when issued, are transmitted to the pharmacy selected by the patient. The patient pays the pharmacy separately for medication.
6. Fees and insurance
The $79 self-pay fee is for the clinician's medical evaluation. It is not payment for medication and does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued. Eligible BCBSTX PPO plans may be billed when applicable; coverage and patient responsibility depend on the individual plan. See our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
7. Records and follow-up
With the patient's consent and when reasonably necessary for care, the clinician may review medication or pharmacy history, prior prescriptions, laboratory results, imaging reports, and relevant records from treating providers. Some records may require a separate authorization. Follow-up recommendations are based on clinical judgment and the information available at the visit.
8. Privacy
Health information is handled as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices and Privacy Policy. The website uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Detailed medical information should not be sent by ordinary text message or email.
9. Emergencies
Americare Telehealth is not an emergency service. For chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, a severe allergic reaction, or thoughts of suicide, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. You can call or text 988 for crisis support.
