Americare Telehealth / Medication refill guide

Online Blood Pressure Medication Refill Evaluation in Texas

If you already take a blood pressure medication such as lisinopril, losartan, amlodipine, or hydrochlorothiazide, a telehealth clinician may be able to evaluate whether continuation is appropriate. Prescriptions are never guaranteed and are issued only when medically appropriate after a clinical evaluation.

$39 self-payTexas patients 18+Your pharmacy of choice

$39 applies to patients paying directly and not using insurance for the visit. Eligible BCBSTX PPO plans may be billed through Family Medicine and Research Center, PA when applicable. Coverage and patient responsibility depend on the individual plan.

Medications this guide covers

Examples include lisinopril, losartan, amlodipine, hydrochlorothiazide. This list is not a promise that any particular medication will be refilled.

What your clinician may review

  • your current dose and how long you have taken it
  • recent blood pressure readings when available
  • side effects, dizziness, swelling, cough, or other concerns
  • kidney function or electrolyte results when clinically relevant
  • other medications and allergies

When telehealth may be appropriate

Telehealth is most useful when the medication is already established, your condition is stable, the clinician can verify enough relevant history, and any needed measurements, laboratory results, or prior records are available.

Your clinician may still require video, laboratory testing, records, an in-person examination, or follow-up with your regular clinician.

When a refill-only evaluation is not enough

Seek urgent or emergency care for severe chest pain, severe shortness of breath, fainting, stroke symptoms, or severely elevated blood pressure with concerning symptoms.

Controlled substances, opioids, benzodiazepines, ADHD stimulants, testosterone/hormone initiation, and weight-loss injections are not offered through Americare's refill pathway.

How an online refill evaluation works

1. Book

Choose an available appointment online. Same-day appointments may be available depending on the schedule.

2. Prepare

Have your medication bottle or exact name and dose, pharmacy, allergies, and relevant recent readings or labs ready.

3. Clinical evaluation

A Texas-licensed clinician reviews your medication, condition, safety factors, and records when needed.

4. Pharmacy

If a refill is medically appropriate, the prescription is sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose. Americare does not sell or dispense medication.

Frequently asked questions

Can this medication be refilled online?

Possibly. The clinician must determine that telehealth provides enough information to prescribe safely and lawfully. Some patients need recent labs, vital signs, records, video, or an in-person visit.

Is a prescription guaranteed?

No. The fee is for the medical evaluation, not for a prescription. A prescription is issued only when medically appropriate.

Which pharmacy can I use?

You choose your pharmacy. If a prescription is appropriate, Americare can generally transmit it electronically to that pharmacy.

What if my symptoms are worsening?

A refill-only visit may not be appropriate. The clinician may direct you to urgent, emergency, or in-person care depending on your symptoms.
